Level Suitable for all levels, from snorkelers/freedivers to all classes of certified scuba divers, as the area offers both sheltered bays and various shallow and deep reef structures.


Depth Snorkeling/Freediving: 1.5 - 5 meters. Scuba Diving: Generally 5 - 30 meters.
Visibility Generally Excellent, often ranging from 10 - 25 meters during the peak season.
Current Generally mild to moderate, but divers should check the tide charts and avoid diving during the Full Moon and New Moon phases, as currents can be strong, potentially reducing visibility.
Water Temp The average temperature ranges from 27°C - 29°C throughout the season, making diving comfortable.

Season The island is open only during the dry season when the sea is calm and visibility is best, which is approximately November to May (Nov - May).

Highlight Marine Life: High biodiversity; colorful reef fish, Moray Eels, Anemonefish (Nemo), and occasional sea turtles.

Corals: Extremely healthy Soft Corals and Sea Fans in vibrant colors (red, yellow, pink), Staghorn, Boulder, and Brain corals, and diverse gorgonians.

Nyaung Oo Phee Island (or Now O P) is considered one of the most beautiful destinations in the Mergui Archipelago, Myanmar. It is nicknamed the 'Diver's Paradise' for its unspoiled coral reefs, especially the soft corals and colorful sea fans found at all depths, along with pristine white sand and clear blue waters. Although located in Myanmar, it is easily accessible from the Ranong pier in Thailand, taking approximately 1.5 - 2 hours by speed boat. Visitors must pass immigration procedures. Note that Myanmar local time is 30 minutes behind Thailand.

Yellow Stone: An underwater pinnacle covered in diverse corals, suitable for all levels, generally shallow (4-10 meters).

Khun Thongsuk's House (Nemo Park): Famous for a dense population of Anemonefish (Nemo) and sea anemones, with good chances of spotting Moray Eels.

Cabbage Coral Bay: Distinguished by large and thriving Cabbage Corals.

Other Sites: Feature beautiful Soft Corals and colorful Sea Fans scattered along the reefs and rock formations.

Go There

The main route is travelling from Ranong Province, Thailand, via speed boat from a local pier. The journey takes approximately 1.5 - 2 hours.

Visitors should book a flight to Ranong Airport (UNN), and then take a transfer vehicle to the pier in Ranong city for the crossing to the island.

Overnight

Options include staying at a hotel in Ranong town before an early morning departure, or choosing to stay on Nyaung Oo Phee Island at the Nyaung Oo Phee Resort, which offers various accommodations (tents, superior rooms, and villas).

Emergency

The nearest and most prepared hospital is Ranong Hospital, which has reported acquiring a Hyperbaric Chamber for the treatment of decompression sickness (DCS).
