The romantic "ruins point" that lie on the seabed is world famous, and you can enjoy diving, glass boats, and snorkeling.
The island is also a thriving fishing island, boasting the highest marlin catch in Japan. It has a subtropical climate with an average temperature of 24°C and an average humidity of 79%. It is rich in nature, with mountains such as Mt. Urabu, rivers and wetlands such as the Tabaru River, and a coastline with steep cliffs that create a dynamic landscape.
A wide variety of living creatures can be seen on the island, including the world's largest moth, the Yonaguni moth (the model for the movie "Mothra"), stag beetles, dragonflies, and other insects, as well as coconut crabs and the Yonaguni horse, a natural monument. The island is also known as a stopover point for migratory birds, and there are many bird species and populations that can be seen on the island. Many precious plants are distributed, including the trumpet lily, which colors early summer, and the longevity grass (peony flower), which is attracting attention as a healthy food ingredient.

Yonaguni is famous for its 60% alcohol Awamori "Hanazake," which is produced at three breweries on the island.
Swordfish boasts the highest catch in Japan. Its dried form, known as "kandaiyu," is popular as a snack to go with alcohol. This salt is made from the seawater of Yonaguni and is packed with minerals and flavor. It is popular for its sweet, mellow taste.
One of the island's must-have condiments is the island chili pepper. Every household makes their own chili paste.
Chou-mei-sou has long been eaten as a wild herb to improve physical condition. Its high antioxidant properties have made it a popular health food ingredient.
